Definition
When a sequential scan situation is detected by the Online database server, a predetermined amount of information is read-ahead off disk, thus optimizing disk I/O overhead. The number of bytes read-ahead can be adjusted by changing the RA_PAGES parameter located in the ONCONFIG* parameter file. This file can be found in the $INFORMIXDIR/etc directory.
