Definition
Key that is used to define the primary packaging of a product (packaging that is in actual contact with the product).
The execution of a stability study often involves not just the testing of the product, material, batch, or compound, but also the testing of these in combination with their primary packaging.
The primary packaging materials are only examined and differentiated with respect to their effects on the stability or shelf-life of a product.
Example:
In a stability study conducted on a pizza wrapped in foil, it is irrelevant whether the foil stems from a roll that is one meter wide or two meters wide.
