Definition
Population (measured in sample units) as the upper limit to which the sampling plan is relevant. The lower limit comes from the next lowest entry in the lot size field of the sampling plan.
The sample unit is formed from the sample unit of measure and the sample quantity factor that is stored in the inspection plan for each characteristic.
Example
The lot size is 20 kg. The inspection characteristic stipulates that the sample unit should be 5 g.
The population measured in sample units is
then 4000 (20 * 1000 / 5)
Here, 1.000 is the factor for converting from kg into g.
