The base year is the year in which an edition is published for the first time. It is used as the basis for determining the year number of a concrete issue in automatic generation or as a default when creating objects automatically. The base year is year number '1'.
If the edition is a weekly (frequency rule: weekly, every 2 weeks, weekly in year, weekly in month), you must specify a base year number so that the weekly edition can be assigned correctly to the calendar week during automatic issue numbering. e.g.: Indiv.period date Publication date Year no. Copy no. -------------------------------------------------------------- 15.12.97 15.12.97 30 51 22.12.97 22.12.97 30 52 29.12.97 29.12.97 31 1 (!!) 05.01.98 05.01.98 31 2
The copy with the individual period date 29.12.97 is published in 1997 but the week with this individual period date is the 1st calendar week in 1998.
