This is an alternate key for use in locating a record. The system does not use it in processing, but you can used it for reporting purposes.
Use
If you are the recipient of the funds, you can use the internal reference number to store the identifier from a preaward system.
If you are a grantor, you can use this to store the award identifier that you want reported back to you from the recipients of the award.
