Documentation
Definition
Specifies the periods in which employees are permitted to create, change, or delete a future absence of this type.
Note
You specify which actions an employee is permitted to carry out in the System Response area.
The future is defined as the day following the current day. You can enter information for the current day in the Start Date Is the Current Day area.
Use
You have the following options for specifying periods:
- Unrestricted Processing Is Permitted
Employees are permitted to process all absences of this type if the start date is in the future. - Processing Not Permitted
Employees are not permitted to process any absences of this type if the start date is in the future. - Processing Permitted Within Period:
Employees are permitted to process absences of this type only if the start date is within the specified period.
You may want to use this function if you want to ensure that there is sufficient planning and processing time for requesting particular absences such as vacation, and that absences are not requested for unlimited future periods. Note that within the specified period, absences can be processed only in the time data maintenance transactions.

Example
- You do not want your employees to be able to request leave for the current day, but you do want them to be able to request leave for unrestricted future periods.
- In the Start Date Is the Current Day area, select the Processing Not Permitted field. In the Start Date in the Future area, select the Unrestricted Processing Is Permitted field.
- You want to keep a time window free in the future for which your employees can request leave. You want employees to request leave at least 3 weeks before it starts, and for no longer than 6 months in the future.
- You therefore proceed as follows:
- You select the Processing Permitted Within Period: field.
- In the Minimum Advance Notice field, you enter 3 weeks.
- In the Maximum Advance Notice field, you enter 6 months.
