The document type classfies the accounting documents. It is noted in the document header.

For every document type characteristics are agreed, which control entry of the document or are even noted in the document. In particular a document type is specified, which area of document numbers is allowed for the documents belonging to them.

The document type stated here is used if you want to have the dunning charges posted automatically by the dunning program.
