Documentation
Definition
Key for workstation application.
Use
With an application you can create original files (such as text files) directly from the document info record. You can also edit them or move them to a secure storage area (storage category).
Dependencies
You need to make the following entries in the document info record in order to edit an original file with an application:
- Specify the storage area (path for the original file).
- If this original file is stored on another computer, you must also enter a data carrier.
Several settings in Customizing for document management influence the way the original files are edited.
See: Settings for the Workstation Application
For the document type, the user must have authorization to start the application (Authorization Object C_DRAW_DOK).
Example
You can enter the following applications in a document info record:
- Acrobat Reader
- MS Power Point
- MS Word 6.0
If you have defined in Customizing (Define Document Type) that the MS Word 6.0 application should be the default value, then this application will be set as default when you create an original file.
