Definition
The serialization reporting point is a reporting point that lies directly before the point where a component is assembled. Orders pass through this reporting point in exactly the same sequence as they pass through the component assembly location.
The serialization reporting poing is automatically determined in line design for a factory layout node, and used for the components that are assembled there. It is always, including within line networks, on the same production line as the assembly location.
Use
The serialization reporting point is used together with the synchronisation reporting point. They make it possible to determine the exact location, based on reporting point backflushes, of orders on takt-based production lines. You can use this information to calculate component stocks on the production line, which enables production supplies to be triggered at an appropriate time.
Note
The structure of the line influences whether or not a serialization reporting point can be determined for an assembly location. It is not always possible to determine such a reporting point for line segments/stations, which are at the beginning of a line or directly after multiple work centers.
The system always tries to determine a suitable serialization reporting point as close to the beginning of the line as possible. For simple line structures, the first reporting point on the line is always used for all assembly locations.
