Documentation
Definition
The priority indicator controls which alternative mode of an activity is selected for planning in the APO.
Use
You can create several modes for an activity, as different primary resources can be used for the activities. These alternatives are not usualy equivalent: it is better to use a quick, expensive special machine to its full capacity, rather than use a slower, cheaper replacement machine.
This is why you give the modes priorities, which the APO uses for the activities during planning. A mode with priority A has the highest priority, a mode with priority B has the next highest priority, and so on.
You give the lowest priority to the mode whose resources you only wish to plan manually in the planning board. These are resources that you only wish to use for production in exceptional cases, such as machines for testing or training.
