Definition

Controls which change status is determining for the variants and modes during explosion.

Use

This indicator is used to determine the effectivity of variants and modes that have been changed or created with reference to a change number. The indicator relates to change numbers

  • whose effectivity is defined by the effective-from date and
  • whose sequence when ordered by the effective-from date is not the same as when ordered by the first use in iPPE. This can happen when the effective-from date of a change number is changed, but changes have already been made with the change number.

There are two effectivity types by which the explosion can be executed:

  • History by sequence

The system stores the change number and the time first used in iPPE when a variant or a mode is changed with a change number for the first time. The system determines the most current change number by the first use in the PVS.

Warning: This type of explosion cannot be used in an integrated scenario as this information is not transferred to other systems (for example, SAP APO).

  • History by effective-from date

The system determines the change status with the most current effective-from date.

Example

You make changes to two variants with the following change numbers:

Change number Effective-from date Date of 1st use

Change 1 07.01.2000 02.02.2000

Change 2 08.01.2000 05.02.2000

Change 3 09.01.2000 04.02.2000

Change 4 10.01.2000 06.02.2000

Component variant 1 Component variant 2

With change 1 on 02.02. With change 3 on 04.12.

With change 3 on 04.02. With change 2 on 05.02.

With change 4 on 06.02. With change 4 on 06.12.

The system makes the following evaluation when the History by effective-from date indicator is set:

Component variant 1: Change 4 Component variant 2: Change 4

Change 3 Change 3

Change 1 Change 2

The system makes the following evaluation when the History by sequence indicator is set:

Component variant 1: Change 4 Component variant 2: Change 4

Change 3 Change 2

Change 1 Change 3
