Definition
Specifies the activity for which you wish to determine a valid change status in the SAP APO. The valid change status is determined using the start date of this activity, which has been calculated in order scheduling. When iPPE data is exploded, this change status is transferred to all the other activities in the process structure that are used in this order. This gives a validity period for the complete order. The explosion of the process structure does not change within this period, that is, the process structure is always exploded with this change status. This means that the order can be moved freely within this period.
Note
When determining the validity period for an order, the SAP APO also considers validity periods that you have determined using change numbers for individual component variants and relationships in the product structure.
If you have set this indicator for several activities, all the activities must lie within the validity period of the sales order. Otherwise the process structure cannot be exploded correctly.
Example
An order is planned in the SAP APO that has a process structure consisting of 3 activities. The start date for activity 1 is planned for 3.12., for activity 2 for 7.12., and for activity 3 for 13.12.
There are two change statuses with effectivities from 3.12 to 5.12. and from 6.12. to 24.12. Setting the indicator will have the following effects:
- If you have set the indicator for activity 1, change status 1 with validity period from 3.12. to 5.12 is used for all the activities.
- If you have set the indicator for activity 2 or 3, change status 2 is used for all the activities because the start date of the activity lies in this validity period.
- If you have set the indicator for activity 1 and activity 3, the process structure cannot be exploded because no validity period can be determined.
Dependencies
Only use this indicator if you are using the process structure for shop- floor-orientated manufacturing.
The indicator is only effective if you manage the process structures using Engineering Change Management.
In the Detailed Scheduling Strategy in the Strategy Profile, which you define in the SAP APO Customizing, you can state in the Effectivity Periods of Orders field whether the SAP APO is to consider validity periods when scheduling or rescheduling orders.
