Definition
The postal distribution indicator is a key assigned by the postal service to identify an edition to be distributed using the postal newspaper delivery service.
The postal distribution indicator is made up as follows:
- Position 1 = letter = publishing post office
- Position 2..5 = digits (number)
- Position 6 = letter
The length of the key is restricted to 8 characters for magazines.
Note
You need to make an entry that is seven characters in length in order to create the goods arrival record for the postal service (in shipping). For example, if a postal distribution indicator only has five characters, such as C8041, the correct seven-character entry is C_08041.
