Definition

Enables you to specify the absence types that have to be taken into account for tax purposes during the global assignment. This is particularly relevant for the United States, where assignees who work more than 183 days are legally obliged to report their worldwide income and have it taxed in the United States if they have exceeded the above-mentioned limit. It is up to the processor to decide whether or not a commuting type must be considered as tax-relevant.

Per default, the SAP system is shipped with a set of standard commuting types (business trip, customer visit, training, vacation). However, if you need additional types for the assignee(s) you are processing, you can create new ones in the relevant customizing step to meet your company-specific requirements (Management of Global Employees > Assignment Master Data > Define Commuting Types).
