Definition
Specifies a unique alphanumerical key that identifies a person in the SAP system.

Dependencies
For concurrently employed employees or global employees, multiple personnel assignments (and thus multiple personnel numbers) can be assigned to an external person ID.
An external person ID is assigned to exactly one ID of a central person (CP). As the system generates the ID of the central person automatically, you cannot influence this. However, you can specify the external person ID yourself. For this reason, the external person ID is displayed on the user interfaces, and not the ID of the central person.
A person, and therefore an external person ID, does not correspond to a personnel number. The personnel number represents the personnel assignment. Therefore, a person can have multiple personnel numbers, but only one external person ID.
