Definition

If the external encryption is activated for the payment card master, the payment card number is saved and displayed in the partly masked form.

Example:
A 16 character payment card number saved and displayed in the masked form '4123**********30'.

The payment card number, which is encrypted via an external tool, does not provide the user with any clues as to which payment card it is.

This can be important when there are two payment cards of the same payment card type for a business partner. With the masked card number, you can differentiate between the two cards without the entire card number having to be displayed.
