Definition

The works number is the employee number used in your Organisation's Personnel Administration system.

Use

In the case that a National Insurance number on an incoming record is matched to two or more employees saimultaneously, the works number field on this record will be used to distinguish between employees.

Dependencies

The works number provided on the incoming form is only as accurate as the Inland Revenue's records. It may not conform to the SAP standard for the works number.

In the SAP system, the works number must be 8 digits long and contain only numbers.

Longer numbers or works numbers provided with letters cannot be used for matching employees to incoming records in the SAP system.
