Documentation
Definition
The cost-of-living (COLA) family size contains the number of family members joining an employee on an expatriate assignment/relocation and are relevant for the adjustments to an employees compensation.
This number will be used for any calculation of extra allowances which are related to the assignment of an employee abroad/relocated.
For instance:
- Goods-and-Service-adjustment
- Cost-of-living-adjustment
Example
If both significant others work for the same company and are assigned both to the same location and they bring dependents with them then only one will get the COLA adjustment for the dependents.
If the employee may have dependents which are not regular seen as dependents but the company accepts them for COLA allowance.
