Definition

The SAP Patch Manager differentiates between the following patch types:

  • HOT: This type denotes a Hot Package. It is a collection of corrections for serious errors in the ABAP Repository.
  • LCP: This type denotes a Legal Change Patch (LCP). An LCP contains the same collection of corrections for serious errors in the ABAP Repository as Hot Packages. It may also contain corrections and other adjustments required, due to legal changes for the SAP Human Resources (SAP HR) component. LCPs are offered as an alternative to Hot Packages to all customers with the SAP HR component.
  • FFD: This type denotes an FCS Final Delta Patch (FFDP). An FFDP brings an FCS system to the final state before Hot Packages (or Legal Change Patches) can be applied.
  • CRT: This type denotes a Conflict Resolution Transport (CRT). A CRT is used exclusively for add-ons, for example IS-IS or IS-OIL. It resolves conflicts that may arise between a patch (Hot Package or Legal Change Patch) and an add-on. Note that a CRT that applies to add-on release n will also solve all conflicts for releases 1-n.
  • BWP: This type denotes an SAP Business Warehouse Patch (BWP). This is a collection of corrections for the SAP Business Information Warehouse component (SAP BW). If necessary, the BWPs also contain Basis corrections. You can apply BWPs only to systems where SAP BW is installed.
  • PAT: This type denotes a SPAM update. These are updates (enhancements) to the SAP Patch Manager.
