Definition
The basic salary at reference date shows the gross basic salary in pounds sterling as stated in the contract at the return date or the end date of the contract if earlier, rounded to the nearest pound.
This will be the salary in respect of duties under the contract actualyy being pais as at 31 July (or in the case of staff who have left the instituiton during the academic/financial year, the salary on leaving). This should not include any regular payments for additional duties, responsibility allowances or honoraria, regardless of their source. Subsequent back-dated pay awards willl be excluded.
In many cases an acceptable approximation for calculating this field would be to multiply the July salary by 12. Should the July salary be significantly distorted for any reason, another method, or month, should be selected.
