Definition

The Salary point is a representation of the salary point within a national pay structure.

Note

  • The first character of this field indicates the salary spine scales that the system uses. If the systems uses the Framework Salary Spine (previously referred to as Final Salary Spine), then the first character must be F. If the salary point is from the Clinical Salary Spine, then the first character must be C.

The second and third characters of this field indicate the salary point from within the pay spine indicated. You should prefix any single digit salary points with a zero. For example, F04, F08, C01.This field displays the salary point as on July 31, 2009 or the end date of the contract, which ever is earlier.

  • Where a part-time member of staff has a contract salary that is a fraction of a spine point, then the system returns the corresponding spine point. For example, the system records the Final Salary Spine of a lecturer on 50% of point 04 as F04.

  • The salary point specified should fall within the range for grade identified in GRADID.
  • If the system returns a salary point from a nationally negotiated (JNCHES) pay scale in this field, then the system should return the default code XXXXXXX in SALREF.

You can use the default XXX code in this field if the staff member:

  • Does not receive their salary from a nationally negotiated (JNCHES) pay spine
  • Is not employed on a recognized salary point of any of the national salary spines identified
  • Is an atypical staff
