Definition

Use

Indicates the grade of clinical academic members of staff, in National Health Services (NHS).

If Healthcare professional specialty (field no.20) field has the code 01 - 17 or 21, you must specify a valid code other than XX in this field.

This field can have the default code XX, if the fields Activity code 1 (field no.24), Activity code 2 (field no.27), Activity code 3 (field no.30):

  • Have the codes 1, 2B, 3A, 3B, 3C, 4A, 4B, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, XX
  • Have the code 2A and the following fields have the codes 10-28, 30-57 or XX:
    • Cost ctr 1 (field no.25)
    • Cost ctr 2 (field no.28)
    • Cost ctr 3 (field no.28)

This field can have the default code XX, in case, any of the activity code fields, that is, Activity code 1, Activity code 2 and Activity code 3 has the code 2A and NHS Contracts (field no.18) field has the code 0 or X

This field can have the default code XX for all atypical staff.

Note

You can use the code 11 for contracts other than medical until additional codes are added to this field in the future.

Effective October, 2009, you must not use the following codes for new appointments:

  • 02
  • 03
  • 06
  • 07

However, you can use these codes only for existing staff hired before October, 2009.
