Definition
An employee may choose to agree to work more than the 48-hour average weekly limit. If the employee chooses to do this, an agreement must be made in writing and must allow him or her to terminate the agreement if he or she wishes to do so. The agreement may specify a notice period of up to three months. However, if no notice period is specified, only seven days' notice is required. To end the agreement, an employee must give written notice to the employer.
