Definition

Date that the employee gives the employer notice of when they intend to start the Paternity Pay Period (PPP) or the Adoption Pay Period (APP).

Use

Enter in this field the date that you receive notice of intention to start the PPP or APP from an employee .

  • In the case of Statutory Paternity Pay (birth or adoption), the employee must provide notice by submitting a self-certificate to the employer. There are separate self-certificates for Statutory Paternity Pay (birth) and Statutory Paternity Pay (adoption) that an employee must submit as notice of intention to start the PPP:
    • Statutory Paternity Pay (adoption) - Self-certificate form SC4
    • Statutory Paternity Pay (birth) - Self-certificate form SC3
  • In the case of Statutory Adoption Pay, a Matching Certificate must be submitted to the employer within one week of issue of this certificate.

Dependencies

For Statutory Paternity Pay (birth or adoption), and for Statutory Adoption Pay, the employee should provide at least 28 days notice before the intended start of the Paternity or Adoption Pay Period, where reasonably practical.
