Definition

This field is set if the employee has an A+B appointment.

An A+B appointment is a split contract, i.e. the employee has in addition to the contract with the regular employer (e.g. a university) an additional emplyoment with the NHS.

In this case the employee works some sessions with the regular employer and some with the NHS. Generally 11 sessions are considered a week's full time equivalent.

Non A+B staff have their contract of employment totally with the university. They may also have a honorary contrat with the NHS.

For HESA Individualised Staff Return purposes employees with an A+B appointment are considered part time and their working time percentage is reduced by the fraction of NHS sessions worked against the NHS sessions worked.
