Definition
Particularly demanding occupations
Activities that are carried out under physically or mentally demanding conditions include, according to §1 paragraph 1 of the heavy labor regulation, BGBl II 2006/104, the following activities:
" 1. Activities performed in shift work or changing working hours also during the night (irregular work at night), that is, between 22:00 and 06:00, for a duration of at least 6 hours and on at least 6 workdays of the calendar month, provided that this working time does not include predominantly "availability to work" periods.
" 2. Activities performed under hot or cold conditions as specified by article VII, paragraph 2, lines 2 and 3 of the Nightshift Heavy Labor Law (NSchG).
" 4. Heavy physical work during an 8-hour shift if men consume at least 8,374 kilojoules of energy (2,000 kilocalories) and women at least 5,862 kilojoules (1,400 kilocalories).
" 5. Activities involving professional care of sick or disabled persons with a need for special treatment or care, for example, in palliative or hospice care.
" 6. Activities that are carried out despite reduced earning capacity (§14 BEinstG) of at least 80%, provided that, for the period after June 30, 1993, entitlement to nursing allowance existed, at least at level 3, according to §5 BPGG or as stipulated by the state nursing schemes.
Particularly demanding occupations also include all activities for which a contribution for heavy work at night was paid according to article XI, paragraph 3 of the Nightshift Heavy Labor Law (NSchG), without it resulting in entitlement to special pension according to article X of NSchG.
