Definition
In this field, you specify a digit from 00 to 98 for the family-related bonus. The digit must be unique for each bonus in the context of the family-related bonus register.
Bonus number 99 is reserved for bonuses paid after the birth of a child and adoption bonuses. You do not need to specify a bonus number for these two bonus types since the system uses bonus number 99 automatically.
Use
The system requires the bonus number to generate the bonus reference number (see bonus reference number).

Example 1:
A recipient has a child. The child is born on January 1, 2000 and starts training on January 1, 2016. The recipient receives the following bonuses for this child:
- Child benefit from January 1, 2000 to January 31, 2016
Bonus number, for example, 01 - Training bonus from February 1, 2016 to December 31, 2020
Bonus number, for example, 02
Example 2:
A recipient has a child and is married. The child is born in January 1, 2000. The recipient receives child benefit for this child.
The whole family lives in the canton of Aargau. Both the recipient and his wife initially work in the canton of Bern. On January 1, 2005, the wife begins employment in the canton of Aargau. On January 1, 2008, the wife changes employment again and works in the canton of Bern once more.
This results in the following different bonuses in the context of the family-related bonus register:
- Child benefit from January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2004
Bonus number, for example, 01
The recipient receives CHF 230 from the canton of Bern. - Difference bonus from January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2007
Bonus number, for example, 02
The recipient receives a difference bonus of CHF 30 from the canton of Bern (the wife receives child benefit of CHF 200 from the canton of Aargau). - Further child benefit, this time from January 1, 2008 to January 31, 2016
Bonus number, for example, 03
The recipient receives CHF 230 from the canton of Bern.
Example 3:
On September 1, 2010, the recipient changes his work location from the canton of Bern to the canton of Argau (organizational reassignment). Each work location calculates based on a different family equalization fund.
- Child benefit from January 1, 2009 to August 31, 2010: CHF 230 from the canton of Bern
Bonus number, for example, 01 - Child benefit from September 1, 2010: CHF 200 from the canton of Argau
