Withholding Tax: Factored Calculation Variant
To determine the correct withholding tax bracket in case of entry/leaving during the period, it is necessary to calculate the amount that the employee had earned if he or she had been employed during the whole period.
The factored calculation variant controls how the time-dependent wage, for example, the gross wage, is to be projected for an entire period.
The meaning of the values is demonstrated through the example of an entry on 01/16:
- 30: Whole period with 30 days, factored period with actual number of days
A whole period is always calculated with 30 days. The number of days in a factored period are calculated using the formula 30 - day of entry + 1.
For this example, the formula results in the following: Whole period: 30 days, factored period: 15 .
- 31: Whole period and factored period with real calendar days
The days of a whole period and the days of a factored period are counted according to the calendar.
For example, the result from the factored calculation variant: Whole period 31 days, factored period: 16 days.
- 3A: Whole period with 30 days, factored period with actual days
A whole period is always calculated with 30 days. The days of a factored period are counted according the calendar.
The calculation variant from the factored period
yields the following results: Whole period: 30 days, factored period: 16 days.
