Documentation
Definition
Indicates whether the employer announced the option of continued employment when concluding the fixed-term employment relationship for a minimum duration of two months.
You can make the following entries:
- Y = Yes
- N = No
Use
This question is used to check whether there is an important reason for ending a previous employment relationship that was terminated in order to take up a fixed-term employment.
Dependencies
If the Fixed-Term Employment/Work Relationship input field has the value N = No, this field is not ready for input.
Example
An employee terminates his or her open-ended work contract on September 30, 2009 and starts working for a new employer on October 1, 2009. The new work contract is of fixed duration until December 15, 2009 but the new employer informs the employee that there is the option of open-ended continued employment as of December 16, 2009 as another employee wants to leave the company at that time. On December 15, 2009, the employee discovers that the open-ended continued employment will not come about as the other employee is now not leaving the company. Therefore, the employer does not need any additional employees. Consequently, the employee claims unemployment benefits to which he or she is entitled as of December 16, 2009.
The lock time check leads to the result that there is no lock time as there is an important reason why the employee terminated his or her previous employment. Although the employee terminated the previous open-ended employment relationship to take up a fixed-term employment, the employment relationship was fixed for longer than 2 months and the employer had announced the option of continued employment upon completion of the contract.
