Definition

In this field, you specify whether the fixed-term employment relationship was intended for at least two months and whether an option for continued employment by the employer when the contract was completed was announced.

This question is used to check whether there is an important reason for ending a previous work relationship that was terminated in order to take up a fixed-term employment.

Example

An employee terminates an unlimited work contract on September 30, 2009 and starts working for a new employer on October 1, 2009. The new work contract is fixed until December 15, 2009 with the option of an unlimited contract as of December 16, 2009 because another employee wants to leave the company at that time. On December 15, 2009, the employee discovers that the unlimited contract will not come about as the other employee is now not leaving the company. Therefore, the employer does not need any additional employees. Therefore, the employee has a valid entitlement to unemployment benefits as of December 16, 2009.

The lock time check leads to the result that there is no lock time. There was an important reason for the employee#s termination of the previous employment. Although the employee terminated the previous unlimited work relationship to take up a fixed-term employment, the employment relationship was fixed for longer than 2 months and the option of continued employment upon completion of the contract was announced.
