Definition
According to the WCA for transportation, a minimum annual income is required by law for the provision of payments in the event of a claim. By virtue of law, statutory accident insurance insures all employees, trainees, and temporary staff against the effects of accidents at work and occupational illness, without consideration of the level of remuneration received. The insurance benefits, for example, accident annuity, are calculated using the remuneration actually earned.
However, if the remuneration is below the minimum annual income required by law, the minimum annual income is used to calculate the payments instead of the actual (low) remuneration. This increase guarantees all employees a minimum standard when granting payments, which secures them economically. The minimum remuneration conforms to a reference value that is redefined each year by law.
For example, minimum remuneration does not apply to employees in vocational training. Only the actual remuneration is to be verified in this case. For example, all of the following actions count as vocational training:
- Introduction to working life (school and student internships)
- Initial training for a particular career (trainees)
- Further training, further education, or retraining (for example, the vocational training of professional drivers via the labor office or DEKRA (German Motor Vehicle Inspection Association)).
Use
You can use the field Relevance for Minimum Remuneration in infotype 0029 to either define that the system determines whether minimum remuneration applies to an employee, or that it can be defined directly. If automatic determination has been set, the system checks which person group is maintained for the employee in infotype 0020. If 102 (Trainees) or 105 (Interns) is set, the employee is indicated as not being relevant for minimum remuneration.
Dependencies
The minimum remuneration only needs to be considered for employees whose workers' compensation association is relevant for minimum remuneration.
