Use
Ensures that interest is only calculated for open items.
If you choose Open items only, then interest is only calculated for open items. You can use this if you wish to ignore arrears interest for items that were already cleared at the time when interest was calculated. This is especially useful for regular interest calculations, for example, for monthly dunning runs.
Items that are split by partial payment are treated as follows: The cleared portion is not included in the interest calculation, but the outstanding portion is, using the usual criteria.
Example
The account has an open receivable for 100 USD due on 1/1. On 1/10, a payment reciept of 50 USD is posted. There are now two items in the account.

On 1/11, interest is calculated with the Open items only option. Interest is not calculated for subitem 0002, but for item 0001 for the period 1/1 to 1/11.
Dependencies
Only open items are processed in a dunnng run. This means that interest is only ever calculated using this option.
The same restriction applies to interest calculations for billing in the Utilities industry solution.
