Documentation
Definition
Date that the employee gives the employer notice of when they intend to start the Maternity Pay Period (MPP), the Paternity Pay Period (PPP) or the Adoption Pay Period (APP).
Use
Enter in this field the date that you receive notice of intention to start the MPP, PPP or APP from an employee .
- Statutory Maternity Pay
Notification for starting the MPP can be a MAT B1 form (which the employee receives from the doctor or midwife), or some other form of notification. For Statutory Maternity Pay, the employer can decide what form of notification the employee must submit, written or verbal.
- Statutory Paternity Pay (birth or adoption)
The employee must provide notice by submitting a self-certificate to the employer. There are separate self-certificates for Statutory Paternity Pay (birth) and Statutory Paternity Pay (adoption) that an employee must submit as notice of intention to start the PPP:
- Statutory Paternity Pay (adoption) - Self-certificate form SC4
- Statutory Paternity Pay (birth) - Self-certificate form SC3
- Statutory Adoption Pay
A Matching Certificate must be submitted to the employer within one week of issue of this certificate.
Dependencies
For all of the above statutory absence payments, the employee should provide at least 28 days notice before the intended start of the statutory absence period, where possible.
