Definition

Indicates by which factor prices have changed in a pool.

Use

The price index is used to determine index LIFO valuation; this can be determined automatically or set manually.

  • In carrying out LIFO valuation, if you specify that the price index is to be determined automatically, the cumulative price index, i.e. the price change in comparison to the base year, will be set in this field.
  • If you want to set the price index manually, you have to enter a price index for each pool before you carry out LIFO valuation. Do not enter the cumulative price index but the price index for the individual year. When LIFO valuation is carried out, the entry that was made manually is overwritten by the cumulative price index.

Procedure

If you want to set the price index manually, enter the price index for the year. Please note that this price index will only be taken into account if you specify that the price index is to be determined manually when LIFO valuation is carried out.

Examples

At the end of the 1991 fiscal year you want to carry out LIFO valuation in accordance with the index LIFO procedure for pool 1234. The following annual data exist for the pool:

You want to manually set a price increase of 4% over the previous year. To do so, you enter 1.04 in the Price index field. When LIFO valuation is carried out, the system overwrites your entry with the cumulative price index 1.1248 (=1.0815 * 1.04).

Dependencies

Ths field is only relevant for valuation in accordance with the index LIFO procedure.
