Documentation
Definition
If you select this indicator, the system interprets the oldest available receipt record as the base receipt record with which price the difference between the receipt quantity and the stock quantity is valuated (base value). This setting takes effect when the system looks for an alternative value within the scope of error-tolerant FIFO valuation. Depending on the FIFO method used, the oldest monthly receipt or the oldest single receipt is interpreted as the base receipt record. In the case of single receipts, the date sequence is defined by the posting date. If several receipts qualify as the oldest, the system calculates an average value from them.
Use
Error-tolerant FIFO valuation offers you various options for determining how the system should react if the cumulated receipt quantity is smaller than the stock quantity to be valuated. You can use the appropriate parameters to configure in which tolerance area the system is to calculate a new FIFO price from an alternative value. As well as configuring a base receipt record, you can switch to the material price as per the price control and the last calculated FIFO result. If you select more than one alternative, the system calculates an appropriate average price.

Example
You have configured the system so that it accepts the FIFO price calculated if the cumulated receipt quantity is at least 80% of the stock quantity to be valuated. If the cumulated receipt quantity is greater than 50% of the stock quantity to be valuated, the system looks for an alternative value. You have specified that the base value should always be used.
- Stock quantity to be valuated: 150 pieces
- Cumulated receipt quantity: 90 pieces
- Receipts:
No. 1 - 30 pieces / $60 = $2.00/piece
No. 2 - 40 pieces / $100 = $2.50/piece
No. 3 - 20 pieces / $55 = $2.75/piece
=> The cumulated receipt quantity is 60 % of the stock quantity to be valuated. The system looks for an alternative value and interprets receipt no. 1 as the base. The stock quantity of 150 pieces is valuated as follows: $55 + $100 + 90*$2 = $335.
The new FIFO price would be 335/150 = $2.23.
