Definition

Performance value from MVS operating system

Supplementary Documentation - MVS_PF_VAL3900

Use

Field 'Average CPU (System)'

This is the system CPU utilization. In a PR/SM logical partition,

this is the LPAR view of CPU utilization. If running in native

mode, then this field is the same as the 'MVS CPU Utilization'.

Procedure

Examples

Dependencies

Supplementary Documentation - MVS_PF_VAL3901

Use

Field 'Average CPU (OS/390)'

OS/390 view of CPU utilization, no matter if running in a PR/SM

logical partition with shared processors, logical partition with

dedicated processors, or if running in native.

Procedure

Examples

Dependencies

Supplementary Documentation - MVS_PF_VAL3902

Use

    Field 'Avg. System Paging Rate'

This is the system-wide paging rate summary.

Dependencies

Example

Supplementary Documentation - MVS_PF_VAL3903

Use

    Field 'Total p. paged in/sec'

The rate (number per second) of pages swapped in.

The field represents the rate since the previous snapshot.

Dependencies

Example

Supplementary Documentation - MVS_PF_VAL3904

Use

    Field 'Total p. paged out/sec'

The rate (number per second) of pages swapped out.

The field represents the rate since the previous snapshot.

Dependencies

Example

Supplementary Documentation - MVS_PF_VAL3905

Use

    Field 'Private p. paged in/s'

The rate (number per second) of private area (VIO + non-VIO) pages

paged in. This rate includes single pages plus the first page of

each block. The field represents the rate since the previous snapshot.

Dependencies

Example

Supplementary Documentation - MVS_PF_VAL3906

Use

    Field 'Private p. paged out/s'

The rate (number per second) of private area (VIO + non-VIO) pages

paged out. This rate includes single pages plus the first page of

each block. The field represents the rate since the previous snapshot.

Dependencies

Example

Supplementary Documentation - MVS_PF_VAL3907

Use

    Field 'Blocked p. paged in'

The rate (number per second) of private area (VIO + non-VIO) pages

paged in, in blocks, not including the first page.

This field represents the rate since the previous snapshot.

Dependencies

Example

Supplementary Documentation - MVS_PF_VAL3908

Use

    Field 'Number of blocks'

Number of blocks paged in from AUX (private). This field represents the

delta number of blocks since the previous snapshot.

Dependencies

Example

Supplementary Documentation - MVS_PF_VAL3909

Use

    Field 'Pages moved to expanded'

The rate (number per second) of pages sent to expanded storage.

In a system without expanded storage, the field will always contain 0.

The field represents the rate since the previous snapshot.

Dependencies

Example

Supplementary Documentation - MVS_PF_VAL3910

Use

    Field 'Pages migrated from exp'

The rate (number per second) of pages migrated from expanded storage

to auxiliary storage.

In a system without expanded storage, the field will always contain 0.

The field represents the rate since the previous snapshot.

Dependencies

Example

Supplementary Documentation - MVS_PF_VAL3911

Use

    Field 'High UIC count'

This is the highest unreferenced interval count (UIC) taken at the last

snapshot. The maximum value possible is 255. Very low values in this

field indicate a contention for central storage.

Dependencies

Example

Supplementary Documentation - MVS_PF_VAL3912

Use

    Field 'Central frames avail.'

This is the total number of frames on all currently available frame

queues.

This field provides a snapshot of the frame count taken at the last

sample.

Dependencies

Example

Supplementary Documentation - MVS_PF_VAL3913

Use

    Field 'Expanded migration age'

This is the length of time a page resides on expanded storage

before it migrates to auxiliary storage. This field

provides a snapshot of the migration age taken at the last

sample. In a system without expanded storage, this field is 0.

Very high values in this field indicate little to no contention

for expanded storage. The migration age is an indicator that is used

to understand the contention for Expanded storage in an OS/390

system.

Dependencies

Example

Supplementary Documentation - MVS_PF_VAL3914

Use

    Field 'Expanded frames avail.'

This is the number of expanded storage frames currently available and

not in use.

This field provides a snapshot of the frame count taken at the

last sample. In a system without expanded storage, this field is 0.

Dependencies

Example

Supplementary Documentation - MVS_PF_VAL3915

Use

    Field 'Central Frames defined'

This is the total number of frames defined in central storage.

This field does not include frames marked as bad or offline, or frames used by HSA or PR/SM.
