Definition
An NT thread is the basic unit of concurrent activity on the NT
operating system. Each NT process may consist of many threads that then
share the address space of the NT process.
The SQL Server database uses NT threads to execute its concurrent
tasks, which are called SQL Server processes. The database server itself
uses only one NT process, but many NT threads within it.
