Definition
IOStall writeis the average waiting time (in milli seconds) for the end of an I/O write operation. In SQL 2000 (8.0) there is no distinction between IOStall reads and IOSTall writes. Both is represented in the read counter.
Under Yukon there will be a distinction between read and write stalls. Most write operations are done asynchronously.
