Definition
The meaning of the message type depends on the type of reservation selected.
Standard reservations D (manual object maintenance in the ABAP Workbench: Reservation for packages):
When a name range is maintained in the reservation table (TRESN), the local SAP System is checked to find out whether there are objects in the name range belonging to a package other than the one entered. If violations against the entry are found, maintenance of reservations for the new prefix namespaces is terminated. Due to existing fragmentation and the few ranges still free, maintenance is terminated in the old (prefix-free) SAP, partner, and customer name ranges, depending on the message type (E), or continued despite violation of the naming convention (W). The W message type therefore records the existence of object exceptions at the time when a reservation entry was last changed.
In an SAP system group, you have to check whether there are any objects in all connected SAP Systems belonging to a different package by means of an object directory (TADIR) query. To do this, you can use the RFC-enabled Display objects function available in the detail screen for view maintenance (transaction SM30, View V_TRESN).
Special reservations F (automatically generated objects):
In the case of a reservation for generated objects, the message type W allows manual repairs to the objects in the name range (in the editors of the ABAP Workbench) after a warning is issued. The message type E allows no further changes to the objects (modification lock). When a special reservation F is maintained, there must not be any manually created objects (without a generation flag) in the respective name range, since it is not possible to maintain these objects manually once the reservation has been entered, or only if the generation flag is set. Object exceptions which may exist must first be moved to another name range so that name range maintenance can be performed with message type E.
