Documentation

Definition

The earliest possible start date of the relevant statutory absence period. This date is automatically set by your SAP system, dependant on the dates entered in the following fields:

  • Expctd Wk Confinmt

[Statutory Maternity Pay/Statutory Paternity Pay (birth)]

  • Expctd Placement

[Statutory Adoption Pay/Statutory Paternity Pay (adoption)]

Use

  • For Statutory Maternity Pay

The start date for an employee's Maternity Pay Period (MPP) depends on when she stops work. Although an employee can leave work immediately after her qualifying week, the earliest that she can begin her MPP is 11 weeks before the Expected Week of Confinement (Childbirth). However, she can also work until the date of birth of the baby, if she wishes.

The system therefore calculates the maternity pay period to start at the earliest 11 weeks before the Expected Week of Confinement (Childbirth), and at the latest, on the date given for the Expected Week of Confinement (Childbirth).

  • For Statutory Paternity Pay

The start date for an employee's Paternity Pay Period (for birth or adoption) cannot be before the date the child is born, or due to be born; or before the child is placed, or expected to be placed.

This start date also cannot be more than 49 days after the birth or placement date of the child.

  • For Statutory Adoption Pay

The start date for an employee's Adoption Pay Period cannot be more than two weeks before the child is expected to be placed, and cannot be later than the actual placement date of the child.
