Definition

Material version that is selected as the only valid version from the versions that are always valid.

Dependencies

Material versions that you create without to a change number are always valid.

If several material versions exist, the system determines the valid material version according to the following algorithm:

  • Material versions that are always valid

    You can select one of the versions that are always valid (without change number) as a default version. As soon as a default version is determined, the other versions that are always valid are ignored.

  • Material versions with a change number

    If you assign a change number to the material version, the system determines the validity data from the change master record.
    If there are several valid versions in a context, the valid version is selected according to the validity rules of engineering change management.

  • Material versions with and without a change number

    If versions both with and without change numbers are valid in a context, only the versions with a change number are read.
