Definition
Specifies the maximum input and output length for the material number. The total material number comprises the material number, plus, if a version exists, the separator character for material and version number, and the version number. Three characters are used for the separator.
The length defined for the material number in Customizing and the length of the version number, are maximum values, which cannot be exceeded. You can enter shorter material numbers or version numbers.
The sum of the number of characters entered for the material number, separator for material and version number (3 characters), and version number, cannot be longer than the total length for the material number. The sum of the length of the material number, length of the version number, and separator may be greater than the total length of the material number.
