Definition

Defines how the application is started.

Use

The following options are available to you for starting an application in SAP NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC):

  • Standard

If you choose this option, in NWBC 3.0 and 3.5, the application is started in the content area, by default. If the version of NWBC in use supports tabbed browsing, the application is started in a new tab.

  • In Application Window/Tab

If you choose this option, in NWBC 3.0 and 3.5, the application is always started in a standalone application window without a navigation frame. You usually use this option for large, standalone applications that can run in a separate window. If the version of NWBC in use supports tabbed browsing, the application is started in a new tab.

  • In External Window

If you choose this option, the application is directly in the browser. This option is typically used for scenarios in which NWBC is the only access point for the system and additional applications have been integrated into it, which were not originally conceived for execution in NWBC, such as SAP Enterprise Portal and SAP CRM. In this case, the application is started in a browser session that is independent of NWBC.

This option is only available for Web addresses, that is for nodes of the type Web Address or File or Generic Web Address (URL Template).
