Definition
Date on which the doctor or midwife expects the baby to be born.
For either:
- Statutory Maternity Pay
This date is given on the MATB1 form required by the employer to pay Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP),
or
- Statutory Paternity Pay (birth)
The expected date of birth of the child will be included on the self-certification form SC3, that the employee must submit for entitlement to Statutory Paternity Pay (birth). The employer has no right to see the MATB1 form in this situation.

This date is required for the calculation of Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) and Statutory Paternity Pay (birth).

Dependencies
For Statutory Maternity Pay and Statutory Paternity Pay (birth) purposes, the SAP R/3 System uses the expected date of birth to calculate the Expected Week of Confinement (Childbirth), and enters the date of the Sunday at the beginning of this week in the field Expctd Wk Confinmt .
