Use

Within primary cost planning, you can plan in as many currencies as you wish. You can also calculate amounts in the cost center currency or the order currency when planning in the controlling area currency.

To find the necessary conversion for this in the exchange rate table, you require a posting date, which you can enter in this dialog window.

If you do not enter a posting date, the system automatically executes the conversion to the exact period with the first day of each planning period, as long as the exchange rates are available.

Procedure

Examples

Dependencies

There are direct dependencies to the fields controlling area, fiscal year, and planning parameters. According to these dependencies, primary cost planning in several currencies is made possible or rejected, which then decides whether or not a posting date is necessary.

  1. Controlling area and fiscal year

The controlling area and the fiscal year determine whether the cost accounting files are managed in currencies which deviate from the controlling area currency (field "Update all currencies?" for consolidated financial data that is dependent on year). If this is the case, then a currency conversion is necessary. The dialog box for defining a posting date appears and you can decide whether you want to execute any currency conversion that may be necessary on a particular date, or period-specifically.

  1. Planning parameters

If the prerequisite described under 1. is fulfilled, and manual cost planning has been agreed, the other currency field groups, which are not to be planned manually, are automatically calculated on the posting date or period-specifically. Note that the exchange rate type in the planning parameters determines the exchange rate type in the exchange rate table.

Use

Various currencies are processed within assessment/distribution. The controlling area currency is the controlling key currency. If the object currency (order or cost center currency) is updated additionally in the controlling area, there are two possibilities for the assessment/distribution:

  • Either the object currency is managed independently, or
  • It is determined from the controlling area currency during posting.

In the latter case, conversion is necessary.

In order to find the conversion needed for this in the exchange rate table, a posting date is required. You can enter this in this dialog box.

If you do not enter a posting date, the conversion automatically occurs period-specifically. In the plan, the exchange rate of the first day is taken, in the actual, the exchange rate of the last day in the period is taken.

Examples

The assessment/distribution for the periods from January to March is executed. The object currency is determined from the controlling area currency. The controlling area currency is DM. A cost center has the currency Sfr.

  1. The posting date is entered as 15.02.:

During the posting, all of the 3 periods are converted using the exchange rate from 15.02

  1. The posting date field remains empty:

January is converted using the exchange rate from 01.01, February using the exchange rate from 01.02, and March using the exchange rate from 01.03.
