Use
Procedure
If you enter a weight, you enter the corresponding unit of weight here.
Examples
Dependencies
The weight unit is a required entry field in the sales view, because it is copied to sales orders for the material. You can not change the weight unit subsequently in the sales order.
Supplementary Documentation - LWMS_GEWEI0042
Use
Procedure
All weights in the warehouse are administered in the unit of weight that you enter here. For goods movements, the material weight is converted to this weight unit and stored in the bins.
The capacity check according weight also occurs with this weight unit. The maximum precision possible for this is 1/1000 of the weight unit.
You should not change this weight unit in an operational system because all weights are related to this unit and therefore become incorrect if you change the unit. If you need to change the weight unit, then you must subsequently change existing data using report RLS10200.
Examples
If you choose a weight unit that is too small, there is a danger that the field lengths are too short for 'heavy' materials and totals evaluations.
If you choose a weight unit that is too large, this can result in significant rounding errors. In particular, problems can occur with 'light' materials during capacity checks according to weight.
