Definition
Specifies how a learner's booking is handled when a new version of a course is launched in the Learning Portal.
Use
The following procedures can be used for bookings:
- Manual
The learner can choose to continue working on the previous version of the course or switch to the new version. In the latter case, the same approval workflow is triggered as for a course booking.
- Automatic
The system informs the learner that a new version of the course exists and automatically updates the old version. The learner has no influence on this and is automatically booked for the new version of the course.
Dependencies
When a learner books a course, an updated version of the course cannot be made available in the Learning Portal until the day after the booking even if a new version is published on the same day as the booking is made.
When a course has been followed up, no more new versions can be offered in the Learning Portal.
If a learner downloads a course from the Learning Portal, the course cannot be automatically updated.
Example
A learner logs onto the Learning Portal after an interval of some weeks. Since the last logon, the course for which the learner is registered has been updated several times. In the Learning Portal under Current Training Activities, the button Current Update Available appears on the detail page of the course. The learner clicks the link. A version update is performed automatically until a version is reached whose System Reaction indicator is flagged as Manual Booking Update . This version must be manually executed by the learner. In this way, the course is updated to the most recent version.
