Definition
As the person responsible for an ILM object, select this checkbox if you want to use rule inheritance as an alternative to defining rules directly in the policies of your ILM object.
Use
If rule inheritance is allowed, you will see the Inherit Rule column in the policy. If A is selected for an instance, at runtime the instance must name at least one instance B from which rules can be inherited.
Rules in an audit area can inherit rules from all audit areas of the bequeathing ILM objects.
Explicit inheritance is only possible between ILM objects of the same object category.
