Documentation
Definition
Classification of an ILM object within an object category according to its business relevance. Examples of ILM objects are #Sales Order#, #Accounting Document#, or #Invoice#.
Use
You can create policies for an ILM object in various policy categories such as retention rules or residence times. Which policy categories are supported is defined in the Customizing for the ILM object (transaction IRM_CUST). The condition fields, time references, and time offsets the ILM objects offers are also defined there.
An ILM object can also offer the option of inheriting the rules of an object instance from another ILM object. For example, a change document can inherit rules from the object instance whose changes it is logging.
