Definition

In the context of available condition fields, the field position is not important in itself, rather the highest number of fields for which conditions can be formulated. The order of conditions for a rule is not important since the conditions are joined by an AND operator.

However, the field position does determine the following:

  • The order of the fields as columns in the policy viewer (the sequence is visually significant)
  • The structure of archive paths (URIs) while storing data in the archive hierarchy (selection and sequence of collections for arranging in order in the storage hierarchy)

The structure of the archive paths differs for ILM object AL_DOCUMENTS and AL_PRINTLISTS: Due to the special significance of these two ILM objects, their archive paths are composed according to a fixed pattern independently of the selected fields.
